Father’s Day is Sunday. Why not wrap up a practical gift this year? Here are some ideas.
Clean his car: Grab a small portable vacuum cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, a bucket of water, window cleaner, gentle car soap and some clean microfibre cloths and help your dad out by cleaning his car. Start inside – remove and shake out loose floor mats and dust all surfaces using your all-purpose cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Vacuum the inside thoroughly. Next, wash the interior portion of the windows with window cleaner and wipe dry with a clean microfibre cloth. To wash the outside of the car, mix a solution of gentle car soap and water to a bucket. Begin cleaning the car starting at the top and making your way down to the bottom. Don’t forget to clean the tires! Rinse the car thoroughly thereafter. Dry the car using dry microfibre cloths until it shines.
Polish his shoes: Who needs the local shoe polisher when it’s Father’s Day? Gather together some leather shoe polish and microfibre cloths. Using a clean microfibre cloth, apply the cream cleaner to the shoe’s surface until the entire shoe is covered. Once complete, buff the shoe clean using a clean microfibre cloth.
Clean out the garage together: Cleaning out the garage is a big job, and goes a lot faster when there are two of you. The best way to do this is to clear out the entire garage. Organize contents into three areas: keep, give away/recycle and throw out. Once the garage is empty, get the hose and rinse the interior. Place everything in your ‘keep’ pile back neatly into the garage. Install some wall racks or shelving units if necessary. Enjoy a nice glass of lemonade and assess your work!
Forget cleaning – do something fun together: Organize a day at the lake or at the golf course with your dad. The activity should be one your dad loves – make sure you do all the organizing and coordinating. Rent, borrow or grab some sports equipment and head out early in the morning. There really is nothing like quality together time.
