Consider this before feeding holiday leftovers to your pets; although you may occasionally want to share some of your favourite foods with your pets as a special treat, it may not always be a good idea. Foods which are good for people are not necessarily good for animals and these common foods may even have a negative effect on the health of your canine and feline family members:
Grapes and raisins – Symptoms of digestion: kidney failure
Avocado – Symptoms of digestion: diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal enlargement, and difficulty breathing
Onions, onion powder, chives, and garlic – Symptoms of digestion: gastrointestinal irritation and red blood cell damage
Macadamia Nuts – Symptoms of digestion: vomiting, tremors, weakness, and hyperthermia
Alcohol, chocolate, and coffee – Symptoms of digestion: diarrhea, vomiting, tremors, panting, seizures, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, and potentially death
