If you’re like most people, you’re probably unsure of how to effectively clean your copper pots. Sound, about right? Well, you’re not alone! The cleaning method is actually quite simple. The secret ingredient to cleaning copper pots is grease; elbow grease that is, and a mix of sea salt, white vinegar and water.
Step one: Start by emptying and cleaning your sink. Place your copper pot into the sink upside down. Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and spray it on the bottom and sides of the pot.
Step two: Pour a thin layer of salt onto the bottom of the pot.
Step three: Lightly dampen the layer of salt with white vinegar and let it to sit for 15 minutes.
Step four: By now you’ll have noticed that the white vinegar and salt has formed a paste. Using a fine steel wool scouring pad, scrub the paste onto the bottom, exterior and interior of the pot. Additional paste may be required to clean the entire pot, so feel free to make some more.
Step five: Once you have finished scrubbing, rinse the pot with water and let the pot air dry on a drying rack. Repeat the process if necessary.
