August is the perfect time for sunshine, picnics and enjoying the great outdoors. But while we’re busy soaking up the summer sun, it’s also a great time to consider the impact our cleaning routine has on the environment. Here at MOLLY MAID, we believe in keeping our homes clean and green. That’s why we’ve pulled together 3 easy swaps for an eco-friendly cleaning routine – small changes that make a big difference!
#1 Switch Paper Towels
Paper towels are so convenient, but they create a lot of waste. Make the switch to reusable microfibre cloths! They’re super absorbent, washable and last for a long time.
#2 Replace Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets are fabulous static busters, but most contain chemicals and are single use. Wool dryer balls are a reusable and eco-friendly alternative. They fluff laundry naturally, reduce drying time (saving energy!) and even soften fabrics.
#3 Ditch the Chemicals
Instead of using harsh chemical carpet deodorizers, try sprinkling baking soda on your carpets before vacuuming. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then vacuum thoroughly. The baking soda absorbs odours and leaves carpets smelling fresh and clean. This is also a great way to deodorize furniture and upholstery.
