3 Trends Emerging this Year in Home Design's featured image

Something about a new year gives many of us the urge to refresh or change our routine and shake up our home decor. If you’re looking to revamp your space, we’ve got a few suggestions.

Home Decor Trends for 2023
Although the home decor is very personal, we’re often influenced by popular culture and major world events, as is evident in some of the styles for 2023. If you’re looking for inspiration or just want to imagine the possibilities, check out these three new decor trends.

A Focus on Wellness
In 2023, wellness will be a major design trend. The pandemic has been beyond difficult mentally and physically, so home decor that promotes well-being has become essential. Bigger windows that allow more natural light into the home will be a huge design trend. More light naturally boosts our access to vitamin D and improves our sleep patterns and overall outlook. Luxury bathrooms and decluttering systems are also priorities this year.

Redefined Work Spaces
While many Canadians have returned to the work office in some capacity, the home office is here to stay. No one wants to be working from the kitchen island anymore, so in 2023 comfort will become essential in every home. Think ergonomic: from office chairs, keyboards, and mouse pads, to standing desks. Plus, multiple tech spaces will need to be set up to accommodate everyone working from home.

Creating Multifunctional Spaces
Our homes have become our sanctuaries. So, while workspaces are important, so are places for entertainment and relaxation. Luxe movie and game rooms, a listening room for music lovers, gyms, and saunas are being integrated into design wish lists. Outside the home, lap pools, jungle gyms, pickleball courts, and fire pits are hugely popular.

If all else fails (or the price tag for a new reno is too steep), learn to master the art of the refresh. A fresh coat of paint, a couple of plants, and some throw pillows can easily transform any room!
