Time to Clean Out Your Drawers

We all have a junk drawer that is so jam packed we can barely open it. But is that your only dirty secret? Dresser drawers are typically less chaotic, but during the week they too can run amok as we make multiple wardrobe changes. This week, take the bull by the horns and pick a drawer to turn inside out, clean and organize. Start with the dresser and systematically go through each drawer until it is pared down and neat and tidy.

Let us help with the overwhelm, here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Invoke the adage “Out with the old, in with the new”. When you buy something new, be sure to get rid of something old.
  • Participate in a seasonal purge. Clean out contents from time to time by going through each drawer by donating or recycling items you no longer use.
  • Return your clothing and other items to their place. Think: “Every item has a home”.
  • Use drawer-lining paper or wallpaper, to help keep drawers and clothes clean. Scented paper will keep clothes smelling great and remind you to take the time to keep things neat and tidy.

The easiest way to stay on top of drawer clutter is to clean out one drawer every week. Now your dresser drawers are neat and tidy, pick a new room and a new drawer until every drawer in your home is Marie Kondo chic. The ultimate goal is to fit things easily into drawers in an orderly and well organized manner where you can find what you want with one glance. It’s much easier to be tidy that way. Good Luck!
