Your Carpet
Mix a small amount of milk with cornstarch to make a paste, and apply the paste to the ink stain. Allow the paste to dry on the carpet for a few hours, then brush off the dried residue and vacuum it up.
Your Coloured Clothing
To remove ink stains from coloured clothes, an overnight milk bath will often do the trick. Place your ink stained clothing into the milk bath and let it soak overnight. Once it has finished soaking place your clothes in the washing machine and clean as normal. Be sure to check the fabric of your clothing first before using this simple trick to prevent any damage to your clothing.
Wet ink on Miscellaneous Items
If the ink stain is still wet, pour salt on the stain and gently dab the area with a wet paper towel. Brush off the salt and repeat the process until the stain has completely lifted.
Your Coat
To remove those problem pen marks from your favourite coat, spray the pen mark with a little bit of hair spray. This should remove the mark completely.
Your Skin
If you are having trouble removing ink stains from your skin with soap and water, try using nail polish remover instead. Take a cotton ball and wipe the area with nail polish remover. Once the ink stains have been removed, wash skin with soap and water. Nail polish remover can also eliminate ink stain from the drum of your dryer – apply with caution.
Your Children’s Toys
To remove pen marks from your children’s toys take a small portion of butter and rub it over the area that has been coloured on. Once you are finished coating the area, leave the toy in the sun for a couple of days. Wash the toy with soap and water after you have let it stand.
Your Shirt or Dress
To eliminate ink stains from you’re a shirt or dress, soak the spot in rubbing alcohol for a few minutes before putting the garment in the wash. Be sure to check the fabric of your shirt or dress before using this method. If your shirt or dress is made with fragile materials such as silk, do not use this method.
You can also remove an ink stain from your favourite shirt using white vinegar and cornstarch. Begin the cleaning process by first dampening the ink stain with white vinegar. In a separate bowl, mix 2 parts white vinegar and 3 parts cornstarch to make a paste. Rub the paste onto the ink stain and let it stand until it is thoroughly dry. Wash your shirt on a normal cycle.
