Believe it or not, cotton balls are more than just an essential part of a pedicure. In fact, these little fluff balls can be quite handy when it comes to cleaning jobs around the home.
In the fridge: If your fridge doesn’t smell fresh, dampen a cotton ball with vanilla extract, place it on a small dish and put it on the shelf near the back of your fridge. It makes for a great little deodorizer.
To polish chrome: If chrome faucets, knobs, or other fixtures are looking a bit dull and water stained, soak a few cotton balls in a mixture of white vinegar and water, and then scrub the affected areas. The vinegar and water will help dissolve any mineral deposits. Buff dry with a clean microfibre cloth.
In the bathroom: Add a few drops of cinnamon to a few cotton balls and place them in a small bowl in your bathroom as a DIY air freshener.
To remove permanent marker: Remove permanent marker stains from your children’s hands by dipping a cotton ball into a bowl of milk and gently wiping the marker stains until they are removed.
On tough-to-clean areas: It’s tough to clean remote controls and light switches to get rid of germs because they should not be saturated with any liquids or cleaning agents. Instead, dab rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and gently remove dirt and grime from these areas.
To remove mildew: To get rid of tough-to-reach mildew in the bathroom, soak cotton balls in bleach (or a bleach cleaner) and put them in corners of the tub, etc. Let them sit for a couple of hours, then rinse with warm water.
