Make Your Own Homemade Iced Capp
One fascinating thing that quarantine has revealed is that many of our take-out favourites can actually be made at home. Homemade artisanal breads opened the floodgates to the DIY revolution! Thanks to Google, we’ve learnt that a simple how to inquiry can transform the average culinary novice into an adventurous chef. And then there’s those of us who are content with simple things like a homemade iced capp, and a clean kitchen. Here’s an easy recipe and tips for a quick clean up.
Recipe for Homemade Iced Capp
Ingredients:
2 tbsp of instant coffee
2 tbsp of sugar
2 tbsp of water
1 cup of milk (2%, almond, oat, experiment with chocolate milk too!)
In a small bowl, add the instant coffee, sugar and water.
Using a whisk, whip these 3 ingredients together until mixture becomes a thick, light brown consistency. About 3 to 5 minutes.
Grab your favourite glass and fill with ice and a cup of milk.
Pour coffee mixture on top and stir to combine.
PRO TIP
You only need soap and water to clean your whisk, but there’s a secret technique you need to know. Just fill a medium sized bowl with hot water and add a couple drops of dish soap. Using the dirty whisk, whip the soap and water as you would an egg. Whip until the bowl is full of bubbles. All this whipping action should leave your whisk sparkling clean. Just remember: even if you don’t feel like washing your whisk right away, at minimum, soak it in a bowl of water right after use. When the iced capp ingredients are left to dry on the whisk, they harden, and then you’ll need to let your whisk soak overnight.
