Heat Stain on your Wooden Table's featured image

It happens to the best of us. You put your mug of hot coffee on the table without thinking – and when you pick it up, there’s a white heat mark left behind.

One of the most popular home remedies requires a hot iron and a piece of cloth. Here’s what you do:

  • Set a steam iron to high with the steam on.
  • Put a towel, dish cloth or even a clean white t-shirt over the mark.
  • Run the iron over the material.
  • After a minute or so, remove the material – the stain should be fading.
  • Repeat if necessary.

Remember to never put hot pots, pans, mugs or any dishes directly on a wood table top. Use coasters, trivets and hot pads to protect the table. Also avoid using covers with rubber or vinyl backings as these materials contain chemicals that may also affect the wood finish.
