Seven ways to make your Swimsuit Last Longer's featured image

You finally have that new bathing suit you’ve been longing for this summer! Extend the lifetime of your new suit by implementing these helpful cleaning tips.

  1. When washing your bathing suit, make sure to wash it in cold water and not warm water as this can ruin your bathing suit.
  2. Washing your new suit for the first time? Vix Swimwear recommends soaking your new bathing suit in a mix of 1 tbsp of white vinegar and 4 cups of water to prevent the dye from bleeding on any of your other clothes in the wash.
  3. After swimming, make sure to rinse your bathing suit in fresh cold water and let it dry if you are planning on re-wearing it again before washing.
  4. Be very gentle when you wring out the water in your bathing suit. Being too harsh can damage fibres and shorten the life of your suit. The best way to dry your bathing suit is to lay it on a towel, roll it up and squeeze gently. Once you have wrung out most of the water, lay your suit out to dry in the shade. It’s important to give them adequate time to dry. It takes about 24 hours for Spandex to bounce back.
  5. Do not dry your swimsuit in the sun as this can cause the colour to fade.
  6. When you are ready to wash your bathing suit after use, wash it on a delicate wash cycle in cold water. Use a mild detergent to clean your bathing suits as standard laundry detergent may be too harsh for the material.
  7. One last suggestion would be to alternate between swimsuits in order to extend their longevity.
