The professional residential cleaning experts at MOLLY MAID suggest keeping these tips handy, to help keep your Valentine’s Day clean and tidy.
- Chocolate: Start by scraping off as much chocolate as possible, using the edge of a spoon. Next, add a small amount of liquid laundry detergent to the stain. Dampen the stain with hot water and scrub. Launder the shirt as usual, thereafter.
- Red wine: Get to work right away, and situate the stain over the centre of a bowl. Use a dry microfibre cloth to dab the stain, absorbing as much wine as possible. Next, pour a cup of cold water directly over top. Cover the stain generously with table salt, letting it sit until the salt turns pink. Next, carefully pour a generous amount of boiling water over the wine stain from a height of six to eight inches. Let it stand until the stain has lifted, then launder as normal.
- Lipstick: Lay the lipstick stain face-down on a dry microfibre cloth. Dab the back of the stain with a make-up wipe. This will help push the stain out of the clothing. Continue to dab the back of stain until it has disappeared.
- Candle wax: Fill a small zip lock bag with ice cubes and place it on top of the wax. Once the wax has hardened, use the edge of a point’s card to gently remove the wax. Vacuum up any remaining pieces of hardened wax if necessary.
