When cleaning between MOLLY MAID visits, there are a lot of jobs that you can do with green cleaning solutions. For windows, the microwave, drains and the toilet bowl try the following all-natural, environmentally friendly ‘cleaning’ products. These green cleaning solutions will help protect your health and the environment while saving money – and they’ll do a great job too!
EXTERIOR WINDOWS: Combine 2 cups of water with ¼ cup of white vinegar. Rinse a cloth in the solution and use it to wipe down the windows. Next, wipe the windows clean of dirt and water with newspaper. And here’s a great cleaning tip – be sure to wipe in the opposite direction than you’ve use to wipe the interior (for example, use a horizontal wiping motion on the outside of windows and a vertical wiping motion on the inside). If there’s any streaking, you’ll be able to see if it’s horizontal or vertical… and on the outside or inside.
MICROWAVE: To clean the inside of your microwave, combine ¼ cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water in a bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high until boiling – the time will vary depending on your microwave. Once the liquid is boiling, carefully remove the bowl and immediately wipe the interior of the microwave.
DRAINS: There are plenty of chemical-based drain cleaners available on the market. But MOLLY MAID recommends a green cleaning solution instead that consists of baking soda, vinegar and water. Here’s how: Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Let this ‘work’ in your drain for a few hours; then flush with 3 cups of boiling water. These natural cleaners work together to remove food and grime that was left behind. This solution will also work for your garbage disposal.
TOILET BOWLS: Here’s one of the best green cleaning tips for toilet bowl rings: Add a small amount of vinegar to baking soda and mix into a paste (don’t make too much). Apply the paste to persistent toilet bowl rings and rub with a microfibre cloth to remove the grime.
