Top 5 Family Fun Activities to Enjoy This March Break

March Break is perhaps one of the most important breaks for anyone within the family. It’s about taking a much-needed break in improving the overall well-being of your mental and physical health. It’s also the time to put your work/school life on hold and to unplug from your everyday routine for a few days. Did you know that it’s also a great time to spend much-needed quality time with your family? The answer is yes and we got you covered! Here are the top five activities we recommend doing for the whole family to enjoy during the break.

1. Create a Family Game night

What’s more fun than creating an old-fashioned game night for everyone to enjoy. Board games are the way to go in creating a fun time for the family to spark a competitive atmosphere, creating victory and milestone moments within the process.

Boardgame ideas? Monopoly, Clue, Trouble, Jenga, Twister, The Game of Life, Candy Land and Heads Up.

2. Host a Movie Night with Movie Theatre perks

A little bit of a creative activity to get your mind going, what better way to bring the movie theatre experience into the comfort of your own home. This is a great activity to host by putting on your favorite family flick, sharing funny comedic moments and most importantly, sharing a bonding experience throughout the movie run.

Items you need to get you started: selected movie, comfy pillows, blankets, popcorn, candy and your favourite drinks.

3. Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a Themed Event

St. Patrick’s Day lands during March Break. Grab a Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s, purchase St. Paddy’s-themed goodies from your local party store and drive on back home where the celebration can officially start. Your family can spend a day listening to your favourite music (Spotify has some great Irish mixes), host a dance party and create some other fun St. Patrick’s Day-themed activities as well (hit up Pinterest for some ideas and free-printables).

Mini activity ideas: enjoy a family brunch, print out colouring pages, make slime, create a coin hunt and play some bingo.

4. Host an At-Home Baking Competition

We’re all familiar with the baking competitions on the Food Channel, but did you know it’s possible to replicate your very own competition at home? Yes, you can! And it’s very easy to do. This activity is great for your family as it acts as a great team-building exercise and a way to create a fun moment that you can look back on.

What do you need? Grab your favorite cake mix, bring the essentials (eggs, milk, baking soda, etc.), grab paper towels (it will get messy), set up stations within the kitchen, bring out your kitchen supplies and you’re good to go!

5. Host a fun Sports Event

We couldn’t forget the most important bonding exercise for any family, that is playing a variety of sports with your loved ones. Hosting a sports event is the way to go, grab a soccer ball, hockey sticks and other sports gear you might have laid around and create a mini-Olympics!

Download a free scorekeeping app to keep track of everyone’s points, set up different areas for each sport using the equipment and let the fun begin.
