Eggnog may be a classic, but the holidays are a time for exploration! This year, ditch the dairy and embrace a trio of unique, festive drinks that will wow your guests and tantalize your taste buds.

Spiced Cranberry Sparkler

This vibrant concoction brings the tartness of cranberries together with the warmth of winter spices for a refreshingly festive beverage.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1 cinnamon stick

4 cloves

1 bottle chilled sparkling apple cider

Orange slices and pomegranate seeds (for garnish)

In a saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, water, cinnamon and cloves. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the mixture to remove solids and let cool completely. In individual glasses, add a spoonful of the cranberry syrup and top with chilled sparkling cider. Garnish with orange slices and pomegranate seeds for a pop of colour!

Mulled Pear and Ginger Tea

Infuse your holiday gathering with the comforting warmth of spices and the delicate sweetness of pear.

Gather these ingredients:

4 ripe pears, thinly sliced

1 inch fresh ginger, grated

4 cinnamon sticks

10 whole cloves

1/4 cup honey

8 cups boiling water

In a large pot, combine sliced pears, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. Pour boiling water over the mixture and let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain the tea into individual mugs and stir in honey to taste. For a richer flavour, add a splash of brandy (optional).

Peppermint White Hot Chocolate

This creamy concoction is perfect for those chilly nights by the fireplace.

Here’s what you’ll need:

4 cups whole milk

1 cup white chocolate chips

1/4 cup peppermint candies, crushed

1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract

Whipped cream and crushed candy canes (for garnish)

Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Do not boil. Remove from heat and whisk in white chocolate chips until melted. Stir in crushed peppermint candies and peppermint extract. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed candy canes for a festive touch.
