‘Tis the Season of Festive Scents!

You can instantly make a space festive with the delicious aroma of freshly baked cookies, mulled wine or the forestry freshness of balsam fir. While decorations are nice, appealing to our olfactory memory is much more effective!

Fresh Greenery

Nothing’s more festive than boughs of pine, cedar or spruce. Over doorways, down the bannister or across the mantle, fresh garland will fill your home or office space with the clean, crisp scent of the outdoors. Spritz with water daily to keep them hydrated over the holidays.

Seasonal Essential Oil Blends

If you have an essential oil diffuser, now is the time to get creative! Make your own festive concoction or borrow one online. NOW Essential Oils has a bunch of fun recipes, like Fresh Fallen Snow and Holiday Eggnog. Try our favourite Wintermint Icicles:

  • 3 drops of peppermint oil
  • 3 drops of pennyroyal oil
  • 1 drop of eucalyptus globulous oil
  • 1 drop of tea tree oil
  • 2 drops of rosemary oil

Stovetop Potpourri

In a pinch, open up the fridge or pantry and see what you’ve got. It’s a great way to rescue produce past its prime. Cranberries, herbs, cinnamon and citrus are all you need to make a cozy fragrant stovetop potpourri. Simply fill a pot with 4-5 cups of water (which you may need to refill as it boils down). Slice up an orange and throw it in the pot with some cranberries, a cinnamon stick, some fresh rosemary and a few cloves. Bring to the boil and enjoy!
